Community; a universal term. This could mean something different where ever you are whether it’s the small town you were raised, the university you attend or the village you are staying in while in Greece for the month. When entering any community, it is common to feel like you are invading someone else’s space and try to keep your distance for both respect and curiosity, but it is very hard to do that here. On Sunday, we attended a memorial service at the village church and were able to see up close what community really means here. Being able to be an outsider and having the opportunity to be a part of the service shows what community means to them. Being invited over for a cup of coffee at someone’s home after Sunday church with open arms is not something, at least I, experience every day. Community means something different everyone you go, and every day that I am here, I’m slowly learning what it means.
