Panama, Suez, Spain, Brexit, Geopolitics and Mediterranean Security

As we are preparing for the second week of the 2016 EC Eastern Mediterranean Program, events from Panama to Britain and from Spain to Suez are mirroring the content of our courses. During the first week we studied, and argued about, the region and the world and explored and visited our immediate surroundings.

Angie's map helped all of us understand the Mediterranean as we prepared for our map quiz on Tuesday. While the Team Blue strategize for the 2016 Get to Know Alikianos Treasure Hunt.

Team Gold was working on their tactics as Collin was sharing his first day scouting.

Laryssa and Tess are not convinced by Collin's arguments as he has been a steady voice of debate as the issues of geopolitics and liberalism and democracy. Laryssa and Tess have won the Dolphin Award for the week as the Most Improved Swimmers!

Navy, Navy, Navy!!! from the Minoans to the United States the secret to geopolitical advantage and power is a strong navy and trade. Earlier in the day we saw the US aircraft carrier USS Truman in Souda Bay, site of a Minoan naval installation 3500 years ago.
