Today we visited the US Naval Base and the NATO Maritime Interdiction Operational Training Centre in Souda Bay. I personally thought that this was a very interesting and unique opportunity. We got the privilege to hear about these two bases from very knowledgeable personnel. The discussion at the US Naval Base gave us a really good understanding on the US military perspective on a variety of issues ranging from the war in Syria to the increasing influence of Russia and China in the Eastern Mediterranean. It was very useful to have such a personal encounter with such a high ranking official in the navy since we got to ask him questions. Also, I really loved the visit at the NATO centre. It was interesting to hear the contrasting information between the two places. And I can't forget to mention the tour of the NATO training vessel where we got to hold some cool guns. Overall a great experience!
